Remeslo ako Cesta -Craft as a Path

Where: Embassy of Slovakia, 25 Kensington Palace Gardens, London

On February 5, 2025, the Slovak Institute in London opened its doors to "Craft as Path", a two-month exhibition marking the 35th anniversary of Slovak designer and textile artist Monika Laceková (MoLa), founder of Atelier71, a hub of fashion craftsmanship.

The exhibition brings together a diverse team of artists from Slovakia and abroad, showcasing their shared dedication to design and craftsmanship. Through an inspiring collection of visual art, fashion, textiles, footwear, and objects, the exhibition highlights the artistry and skill of each participant.

The event is structured into three dynamic sub-exhibitions:

1. One City Many Worlds: A series of photographs exploring diverse perspectives through the lens of creative collaboration.

2. Craft as Path : A curated selection of designs by craftsmen, designers, and specialized schools, including clothing, accessories, footwear, textiles, tapestries, and artistic embroidery. This section also features the innovative project Are you IQ, led by Laceková and Atelier71.

3. Loss of Identity: A thought-provoking collection of collages created from recycled fashion magazines and books, blending sustainability with the imaginative, boundary-pushing side of the fashion industry.The exhibition aims to promote the skill and craftsmanship of each artist, celebrating their innovative approaches to design.

Exhibitors include:ATELIER71, Monika Laceková, David Demovič, Eva Beňová, Andrea Berdisová, Beata Gerbocová, Ema Ozogáňová, Jonn Klein, Dominika Hrnčříková, Aneta Holehesh, Laura Ďuráková, the School of Applied Arts in Trenčín, and students from Tomáš Bata University in Zlín under the guidance of Oldřich Vojta.
